Recovery-Based Rehab Activities

At Sunrise Recovery, we have long recognized that fitness and physical activity build self-esteem and are very rewarding for the men in our recovery programs.  While our clinical addiction treatment program is intense and effective, there are only so many hours each day that the men can participate in therapy, workshops, and 12-Step meetings.  So we integrate frequent spiritual, social, and esteem-building activities into each client's treatment program to strengthen the mind and refresh the body.  Also, the occasional off-site excursion provides a much needed break from the daily routine and helps the men learn how to "have fun in sobriety" and achieve a balanced lifestyle for the long term.

Some of the fun activities that men will participate in to strengthen their sobriety include:

• bowling
• go-cart racing
  
• softball league (playing against other treatment centers)
• weekly trips to the library
• basketball
• volleyball
• horseshoes
• gym workouts (in our well-equipped on-site gym)
• swimming in our pool (and hot tub)

Spiritual Week Is a Powerful Experience for the Newly Sober Man

"Spiritual week" is a monthly occurrence that is always a highlight for the men who are in treatment.  There are numerous activities that occur in the outdoors environment to build fellowship and enhance the spiritual beliefs of the individual men.  Team-building activities like going on nature hikes show the men that they can accomplish great things and learn new skills without relapsing.  Since our staff is almost exclusively made up of men who are in recovery themselves, the men in our rehabilitation program will bond with others who are effectively living a fulfilling life free of alcoholism or drug addiction.

A Great Setting to Get Support and Begin a New Life

The Sunrise Recovery facility has many amenities right on site.  This allows the men in our program to receive the support and structure they need to try new things and realize that life can be enjoyable without drugs and alcohol.  When clients occasionally travel off-site for an activity, it is treated as a special occasion.  At all times, there are numerous staff members accompanying and monitoring them.  We have had great success with our holistic treatment program and strongly feel that a fundamental component to our men's success is our uplifting and challenging activities that assist them in regaining a healthy mental state and a balanced outlook on life.
